The first day of autumn!
Exactly six years ago today, we brought Scapa home. A tiny little puppy. I always love telling people how Scapa chose us, really - I was making my way over to one of her quieter siblings, when she bounded up to us, full of energy and love.
When it came to leaving, she was so unsure going somewhere new that she ended up sitting on my knee in the car on the way home. She fell asleep within minutes.
I was five months pregnant at that point, and she used to curl up round my bump when I was relaxing on the settee with my legs stretched out in front. When I took a nap, she would curl up in the crook of my knees.
Scapa is the most perfect family dog you could hope to have. She is so full of love - and, crucially, patience - and brings us all so much joy, just by being around. She loves walks and exercise, food, and her people; and get ridiculously excited about each of these things.
All in all, I think she’s got everything sussed out.
So cute!
