Life in Numbers: Day XXIV
Trains, Geese, Rainbows
I was in the office today. I always book a desk by the window, so I can gaze out. I counted six trains going past - from short passenger trains with only three carriages, to much longer goods trains.
The long thin field the other side of the track had twenty-two furrows of newly cut hay, ready for baling. As I was absentmindedly counting them, my eyes tracked upward to some flying shadows - about three hundred geese were passing, formation fluctuating as they disappeared into the distance.
If the weather last week was reminding us it was still summer (our first and last proper burst of heat, it felt like), then the weather today was certainly confirming it is now autumn. Driving rain on and off all day, which didn’t clear until about forty minutes before I left work. Driving back into the village, we all saw a perfect, full arch of a rainbow. Elfi was delighted, and excitedly got Auri’s attention to share it with her.
