In a sign that it is truly autumn, the mouse is back (or one of its inevitably many siblings or children). It had clearly been perusing the wares in the pantry last night, and had nibbled the label off the bottle of vegetable oil. We’ve been a little complacent over the summer months, so I will have to check that everything is safely shut away in jars or boxes again (a curiously satisfying task, in any event).
Auri went to a friend’s birthday party earlier today, and came back with a great party bag. It included one of those gliders that you put together - the type that have been around for years. I remember getting one in my stocking one year. As predicted, it didn’t last too long before one of its wings broke (although, it probably would have lasted longer if Elfi hadn’t happened to it), though it still seemed to fly pretty well after that.
I have made a start on Christmas plans. Three packets of Christmas Cards arrived this weekend, and I have begun The Lists. Actually, I made a start back in February, when I ordered pretty much all the year’s birthday and Christmas presents. Not knowing how much money we’d have to tip into emergency home repairs throughout the year, I thought I would make sure that the majority of the year’s presents were in hand, at least.
