We had our introductory appointments with the nurse today, finalising our change of doctors’ surgeries after our house move (much) earlier in the year. We were weighed and measured, and blood pressures were taken. Introductory metrics.
The appointments were in the early afternoon, so Auri was able to leave school a little earlier than usual. I remember the excitement of being able to leave school early. When we arrived to collect her, there were some parents and helpers clearly gearing up to help out some of the older children with the Bikeability course. When I was at primary school, it was called “Cycling Proficiency”. I remember cycling round cones in the playground at Stenness Primary School. Recently, my sisters found a black and white newspaper picture of me and another six members of my class when we all passed (at least, I think that was what it was a picture of). It would have been printed in The Orcadian.
This evening, we made a den for the girls in the sitting room. They loved it, though eventually we had to put the two settees back to their normal positions, as Elfi got a little too giddy running round in circuits through the den and round the settee repeatedly for about ten minutes non-stop.

I remember the cycling proficiency! We spent the day on our bikes today. 107 kilometres including a river swim for JoJo and cakes, naturellement!
