Auri started trying to go to bed at not long gone six o’clock this evening. Usually, she’s still desperately trying to find reasons to get out of bed and stay up at nine or ten at night, so I vetoed this until a bit later at least - not least because it would be inevitable that she would wake up her little sister when she went down (Elfi spent the last half an hour being a pure devil, refusing to accept she was tired, until she fell asleep almost immediately with nearly half a bottle of milk still to drink).
The day started with brining the turkey, both girls helping stir in the salt, sugar, honey, and maple syrup. Auri and I had a mooch around town on our own, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We each bought a hula hoop, and Auri couldn’t help but skip through hers as we popped in and out of various shops, much to the amusement of various people.
And now, stockings have been hung, and both girls are in bed. At the point that Auri went to bed, Santa had just visited Cyprus, according to NORAD. We looked up Cyprus on Auri’s new globe, before she skipped off, uncharacteristically eager to go to sleep.
Thank you for giving updates. It can't be easy today! We loved to read about the wee ones on Christmas Eve xx
The last day or two have been exhaustingly marvellous! Suitably full of magic, laughter, and a minimum of aggravation (not none, but a minimum!) xxx
