Many years ago, I picked up some old (antique, I suppose, technically) Christmas decorations at an auction. These included several boxes of beautiful old mercury glass Christmas Tree baubles. Several have broken over the years due to slipping onto hard floors, but I refuse to keep them squirrelled away - I don’t see the point of having them if not to share and enjoy. So, we take care with them, but still use them.
This year, they are all on the smaller Christmas Tree in the snug, where they look quietly and modestly splendid.
So pretty! I'm not in favour of hiding lovely things away. Like you, I would far rather share them x
I've inherited some of these from my Mum, early 1960s, but less each year as they break like yours! Some are tarnished, some damaged where the sprung hanging wire fitted through the open neck, but they are my childhood Christmas, so out they come!
